1.Non-Stick Utensils
We all are huge fans of Non-stick pans and cooking utensils just because they tend to make our lives a lot easier. But have you ever asked yourself, “Are non-stick kitchen utensils safe?”. Well, unfortunately, the answer is NO! Non-stick utensils are actually slow poisoning you. Non-stick pans get their properties by a coating of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) that comes off when faces high temperature or scratching and little by little it gets added to our food and later goes into our bodies. Also, according to a research, it is said that when it is heated, the material gives off toxic gases and can affect the food and the cook.
2.Aluminium Utensils And Foils
Just like non-stick pans, aluminium utensils tend slowly erode and become part of our food chain. An experiment shows that the weight of an aluminium pan reduced significantly within a year. And unfortunately, it isn’t evaporating but getting into our blood! Same goes for Aluminium foils. Our bodies excrete out aluminium through urine but this additional dose of aluminium accumulates and damages our nervous system, bones and kidneys.
3.Gas Stovetops
Gas stoves are always our top priority rather than electrical stoves because of them being time-efficient. However, have you thought of all the toxic gases that are produced when you use a gas stove? Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen dioxide and Formaldehyde are given off as a result of cooking over a gas burner. Carbon monoxide and Nitrogen dioxide may be tackled by ventilating your kitchen well but Formaldehyde tends to absorb into the food and become a part of our food chain. This, in turn, disturbs the body’s chemical equilibrium in various ways.
4.Plastic Storage Containers
We are all so angry with plastic already. Let me add another reason to quit it immediately. Plastic, when exposed to heat (From sunlight, hot food or microwave) have the potential to leak Bisphenol-A (BPA) and Phthalates into the food, especially if the food has a higher fat content. These chemicals are known as Endocrine Disruptors that is that they Testosterone and Oestrogen levels in the human body. Further research shows that it may affect the development of Brain and reproductive organs in a fetus!
5. Dish Washing Soaps
Phthalates, which is usually found in flooring, vinyl and our dishwashing soaps prove to affect the reproductive system of animals. However, there are no proved effects of it on humans. But the frequency with which we use it, that is every day several times, can create a significant impact. So, it is better to be cautious before time! The things I have mentioned, have become soo much a part of our lives that they seem irreplaceable. Well, remember, whether it be humans or things they are always replaceable no matter how helpful they have been. Change your lifestyle for a better living and kick out all the toxic of your lives. Stay Blessed!
